When it comes to the cost of sophisticated litigation, Hilgers Graben changes the game.
We drive down costs by utilizing geographic arbitrage: relocating to a low cost-of-living area in order to minimize overhead and maximize our clients’ savings. Our attorneys in our Lincoln, Nebraska headquarters, all have elite credentials–our office has multiple former federal appellate court clerks, state supreme court clerks, and all of our Lincoln attorneys graduated from top law schools. Locating our headquarters in Lincoln allows us to slice the two largest costs of operating a firm—the talent and real estate—by more than half, while continuing to provide the same quality of lawyer found in the big firms. With offices and attorneys in other major cities, we have created a hub-and-spoke system that empowered our team to have a nationwide reach: in the last five years, we have handled cases from California, to Texas, to Delaware (and a number of states in between) all without a coastal office or major big-city presence.
We combine the cost savings from geo-arbitrage with a process-driven and business approach to help reduce friction and cost. Historically, the business of law has differed from seemingly every other business: competition drives many non-legal industries to use business practices that drive efficiencies, lower prices, and/or improved services. In contrast, and nearly without exception, the prices in the legal services industry simply go up yearly. We believe there are objective business reasons for the inability to meaningfully drive down rates—major law firms are based in the most expensive cities in the country, typically have the most expensive real estate, have internal compensation models that perpetually create upward pressure on billing rates, and have little incentive for applying cost-optimizing business practices and approaches. Not at Hilgers Graben. Because of our model, more of our clients’ scarce resources go towards what will actually serve their interests: talented litigators and teams who work on their cases. This means we can offer the most qualified and experienced talent the legal world has to offer for far less.
Our model helps our clients win in the courtroom while protecting their bottom line.
