LINCOLN, Nebr., February 26, 2019 – Lincoln, Nebraska – based boutique law firm, Hilgers Graben PLLC, is pleased to announce the return of Sterling Miller as Senior Counsel based in the firm’s fast-growing Dallas, Texas office.  Miller returns to the firm after an 18-month leave of absence while he took on the position of General Counsel for Silicon Valley-based Marketo, Inc. where he recently led the legal team responsible for the successful sale of Marketo to Adobe Inc. for almost $5 billion.  Miller’s practice will focus on litigation and general corporate matters for the firm, along with client relations & development, and firm management.

Sterling Miller has led a widely-varied 30+ year legal career.  He graduated from the Washington University in St. Louis School of Law (Order of the Coif) where he was an editor of the law review, and has, in addition to Marketo, served as the General Counsel of and the publicly-listed Sabre Corporation.  He is the author of three books including “Ten Things You Need to Know as In-House Counsel – Practical Advice and Successful Strategies” published by the American Bar Association.  He is a sought-after speaker on legal panels around the country, including presenting at South-by-Southwest in Austin, Texas and keynoting several ACC events.

Miller publishes a widely-read and award-nominated legal blog titled “Ten Things You Need to Know as In-House Counsel” which focuses on sharing lessons learned over the course of his long career, written in a practical and useful manner.  For the firm, he will transpose many of those posts into CLE training for clients and potential clients. He contributes work to Thomson Reuters publications on a regular basis and is frequently interviewed by industry publications for his views on hot-button legal issues.  He posts regularly on LinkedIn and Twitter about issues that matter to in-house counsel.  Miller serves on the board of directors of DFW-based Terrasoul Superfoods and is a member of the advisory board of Lincoln-based Travefy.

Said Miller, “I am very excited to be back at Hilgers Graben.  I have long believed that our unique value proposition is exactly what in-house lawyers are looking for in terms of big firm service and talent at small firm cost.  I can’t wait to get things ramped up again.”

Firm founder Mike Hilgers stated that “We are thrilled to welcome Sterling back to the firm. He has built some outstanding legal teams for Travelocity, Sabre, and Marketo, and his expertise will help us as we grow into a nationwide firm that has a welcoming and positive culture. Our firm emphasizes first-class service, smart staffing, and disruption in the legal space. Sterling’s experience being in ’the chair’ as general counsel will help the firm provide first-class customer service to its clients.”
