About

Jon concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation matters in a wide range of technologies. He has served as lead counsel in dozens of cases in Federal court in patent, trademark and copyright matters. Jon also advises clients in IP licensing and patent portfolio monetization. He has gained experience in a range of technological areas, including Internet commerce, computer hardware and software, semiconductor and semiconductor processing and packaging, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications networking and cellular communications, solid state memory and biotechnology. Jon has handled matters before federal and state courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission.

He also advises clients regarding trademark, copyright and trade secret issues ranging from litigation to licensing, as well as intellectual property issues relating to mergers and acquisitions. He also advises franchisors regarding Texas franchise law and the IP issues associated with franchising.

Jon advises clients on cybersecurity and data privacy issues, including compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).

He advises clients in the publishing and entertainment fields, ranging from authors, actors and bands to manufacturers and sellers of branded merchandise.

Jon is an authority on legal issues related to blockchain, cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings (ICOs) and distributed ledger technology. He is involved in the growing blockchain community in Dallas and across the country.
