About

Kelsey Shofner is a strategic and deeply thoughtful corporate attorney with over a decade of experience advising businesses at every stage of growth. Known for her ability to balance legal rigor with business practicality, Kelsey brings a rare blend of analytical insight, clear communication, and long-term vision to her work. Her career has been defined by a passion for empowering business owners and leadership teams to make confident, informed decisions that support sustainable success.

Kelsey has experience across the spectrum of corporate law – she began her career in-house as the Assistant General Counsel of a family owned and operated business based in DFW but with a nationwide presence. After her time in-house, Kelsey founded Shofner Consulting, PLLC, where she partnered with clients on a wide range of corporate legal matters, including entity formation, contract development and negotiation, employment policies, intellectual property protection, and HR best practices. Prior to Hilgers Graben, Kelsey worked in the corporate group of a nationally recognized law firm leading private fundraising and merger and acquisition deals ranging from $1M to $150M total equity value. Whether guiding a startup through its foundational steps or advising an established organization on people strategy and risk mitigation, Kelsey is known for delivering actionable, values-aligned solutions that foster both growth and resilience.

Before launching her own firm, Kelsey served as in-house counsel for a local company, where she focused on contract negotiation and HR advising. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communication, along with a Business Foundations Certificate, from the University of Texas at Austin.

From “Start Up to Sale” Kelsey guides her clients through the ups and down of business ownership through a practice that reflects her belief that businesses thrive when they are grounded in purpose, supported by strong legal foundations, and led with heart.
