Grant has extensive trial, oral argument, and deposition experience, and he specializes in complex commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, and white-collar criminal defense. Grant’s advocacy style is collegial yet aggressive, strategic, and principled. Prior to serving as our Dallas Managing Partner, Grant was a litigation partner at Winston & Strawn in Dallas. During this time at Winston, Grant was a key member of the 3-week trial team that represented the preeminent surgeon Doctor Nick Nicholson, the only defendant to be acquitted in a high-profile health care fraud case where 21 individuals were indicted. Grant was also previously selected to serve as an Assistant District Attorney at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office through a program sponsored by Winston. Grant ran multiple jury trials as an Assistant District Attorney, handling everything from jury selection to closing argument.

After law school, Grant previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sam A. Lindsay of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He received his Juris Doctor in 2013 from the University of Texas School of Law, where he graduated with honors. During his time at UT Law, he was Editor-in-Chief of The Review of Litigation and served as an intern for the Honorable Barbara M.G. Lynn, the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Grant was also chosen by his class at UT Law to speak at their 2013 graduation ceremony. In 2010, Grant graduated from the University of Notre Dame with honors and earned his Bachelor of Arts with a degree in Economics and Political Science. During his senior year, Grant served as student body president.

Grant currently serves on the Northern District of Texas’s Advisory Committee and previously served as the President of the Federal Bar Association’s Dallas Chapter. He is a member of the board of multiple organizations, including Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas, Saint Mary of Carmel Catholic School in West Dallas, Faith Fitness, and the Human Impact (a non profit that partners with the homeless of Dallas). Grant is a member of the City of Dallas’s Ethics Advisory Commission (appointed by Dallas City Council) and serves as the chair of the Dallas Alumni Steering Committee for the University of Texas School of Law. Grant also serves on the Advisory Council of the Catholic Foundation. Grant is a member of the Leadership Dallas Class of 2023. Finally, Grant formerly served as a member of the Executive Board of the Jesuit College Preparatory School Alumni Association, his high school alma mater.

Grant is also the creator and host of “I Do This Because,” a podcast that profiled the motivations and personalities of Dallas leaders.

Grant and his wife, Cynthia, who is also an attorney at Hilgers Graben, maintain their national practice in Dallas where they live with their 5 children.
