John Vivian is a full-time attorney at Hilgers Graben. He is an experienced litigator whose practice encompasses the full litigation life cycle from pre-trial discovery through appeal; he has authored briefs and drafted numerous successful motions at both the district and appellate levels. John possesses civil litigation experience involving traditional tort and contract disputes in state and federal court, as well as novel administrative challenges before federal agencies under the Administrative Procedure Act. He has advised clients on an expansive array of regulatory issues stemming from federal administrative rules, state and federal executive orders, and statutory directives, including the Defense Production Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Prior to joining Hilgers Graben, John was an associate in the Washington D.C. office at Jones Day. He also clerked for the Honorable David B. Sentelle at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and the Honorable Roger W. Titus at the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
John has also served as an adjunct professor at the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, teaching legal research and writing.
Before law school, John worked as a defense contractor, providing mechanical engineering and project management support in the design of mission tools for NASA and the production of weapon systems for various branches of the military.
