About

Remu Ogaki is an experienced leader of HG Edge eDiscovery teams with particular expertise on Japanese and cross-border complex litigation.

Remu has well over a decade of experience managing large teams of 30 or more foreign language attorneys, paralegals and translators, working in close coordination with partners and associates engaged in complex litigation, and across large and multiple cross-border databases in the US and Japan. He provides cost-saving advice by drawing from his extensive experience with the latest technological review platforms and tools, and upon his deep knowledge and understanding of the review process to provide workflow solutions that maximize efficiency and quality at every stage of eDiscovery.

As an American attorney and native Japanese speaker, Remu uses his extensive cross-cultural knowledge to provide in-depth assistance in identifying, summarizing, and contextualizing documents of key importance. Remu has broad experience managing eDiscovery projects across a diverse range of many fields of law, including Antitrust Litigation, FCPA Litigation, EPA Investigations, SEC Investigations, Patent Litigation, Complex Multi-District Litigation cases, Contract Litigation, Internal Investigations, and Class Action Personal Injury Litigation.

Remu grew up in the American Midwest, and has lived and worked on both American coasts.  However, he also spent two years of his career as an attorney in Tokyo. There, he was charged with coordinating with the legal department at a major Japanese company, and conducted a highly sensitive internal investigation that required him to manage and lead a team of Japanese investigators who spoke very limited English.

Remu enjoys sharing his eDiscovery and linguistic expertise with others, having been invited as a speaker and roundtable participant on foreign language eDiscovery.

He presently resides in the Virginia suburbs of Washington D.C. with his wife and two children.
